June - here and gone

Wow! June started and I thought this will be a fun month, there is so much going on! And now, all of a sudden, it is July! So in June, of course, school ended for the whole family. Mark has been driving alot (5-9 hr days) which is great and a huge step up from last summer. Karina got to go to girls camp with Tori and spent the week kayaking and canoeing. She is also working on the family 72 hour kit and food storage(thank you stimilus check). Tori loved camp. Her favorite thing was a "Destiny" (spiritual classes) about the Book of Mormon. She got second in the singles kayak race. That was fun! Brett has been playing lots of video games and playing and swimming at friends houses. Brenna and Karlee have been playing, playing and playing. They also took swimming lessons for the first time.

Karl and Stephanie were here when KK and Tori got home from camp. It was so fun to see them!! We had a fun time hanging out. We went to the ranch and played in the lake. They met alot of our friends which was fun for us.

Last Saturday we went with our friends, the Apsleys, to Dillon's Beach...north of San Francisco. After the 2 1/2 hr ride, we arrived to gray skys and 58 dregrees (it topped out at 65...I loved it!). We set up and didn't really see the older kids til their tummies started rumbling. We made a fire in the sand(yes it's allowed) and BBQed. We played Settlers on the beach while the kids played. After talking about the fact that we never put on sunscreen it was decided that the clouds were too think and the fog was rolling in anyway so we'd be ok. Turns out we were ok...except for our friend Chris. He was fried!! Poor guy! The kids did go in the water...it was like stepping into ice water...but they don't care about that kind of thing. They made great sandcastles and holes and just a great time. We were next to the dunes so the older kids were there playing Cops and Robbers most of the time. At one point they snagged the baby carrots and started a war with the Dads. Tori turned spy and was helping both sides. They were chucking these things so hard that Chris left a carrot sized mark on Tanner. Tanner thought that was cool. :) We had a huge game of track ball (remember Carpentaria!?!) I forgot how hard it is to run in sand! So after a long day we headed home, stopping at Chevy's to eat dinner and got home about 10:30. It was a fabulous day!
